You’re Worth Dying For

February 11, 2023 // Tim Hoffman

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
-Romans 5:8

I think most, if not all of us, can admit at one point or another feeling down on ourselves about something. Whether you took that look in the mirror and hated what you saw, your Facebook or Instagram post didn’t get many likes or comments, or maybe you somehow worked up the courage to shoot your shot at that pretty girl or handsome boy only to be met with rejection.

All these things can easily have a negative impact on our self-worth and the value we place our lives. Too many times we measure our worth based on our social media accounts, or comparisons to other people. And each time we do this, the devil takes that little setback and begins to twist it and manipulate it something far worse that it was. Something as simple as you posting a selfie or a story you find funny that maybe didn’t get very much love from other people. He will take that and immediately make you feel rejected. So all of the sudden, a picture you were proud of, or a story that brought you laughter has now become a reason to make you feel like people don’t like you.

The devil works around the clock, attacking the very source of who we are. He force feeds you lies and if you entertain them, they then go from being lies to being truth to you. So instead of listening to who God says you are, you begin listening to things that are poisonous and are killing you. The devil tries to make you forget you belong to God, and instead makes you feel like you don’t belong at all.

You must not find your value in comparison to other people or what other people say or think. You must find your worth in the words God has spoken over you. You have to begin to speak life into your life instead of repeating lies that were given to you. You’re not insignificant, you have Royal blood flowing through your veins.

You must take moment and receive the fact you are not worthless, you are worth dying for. Because someone did in fact die, for you. The Son of God loved you enough to take your place upon a cross. He took the lashings and spilled His blood because you are worth it. He had nails driven through His hands and feet, a crown of thorns pushed into His skull and died upon an old rugged cross. Why? Because He loves you. Because You belong to Him. You have a purpose, you have a reason you are on this earth and your life had so much value that He gave His own so you wouldn’t have to.

You are worth it, you’ve always been worth it. Never for a moment let the devil tell you otherwise. Every time you feel ugly or too fat or too skinny. Every time you feel rejected or alone. Every moment you feel that you have no reason to live or to keep going. Each and every time, remind the devil and remind yourself, that you are a Son or a daughter of God. And your life, was worth dying for.
